ALIGNMENT TO EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY
AT THE UNIVERSITY OF GEORGIA
“The Gifted and Creative Education Program philosophy at the University of Georgia is grounded in tenets that giftedness and creativity are expressed in diverse ways among people; that creativity is a universal potential to be nurtured and enhanced; and that the best education is tailored to student’s specific needs.”
My Purpose Statement
The purpose of my website portfolio is to meet the expectations as set forth in the EPSY 7710 Practicum syllabus. This experience facilitates supervised learning opportunities allowing students like myself to examine best principles and techniques in gifted and creative education, and to relate theory to practice in my own setting. My practicum work and, by extension, my website portfolio is designed to highlight my own advanced learning opportunities and experiences in gifted and creative education from the past several months and while a student in this program. Similarly, this website portfolio helped me to refine my competencies related to innovative and experimental application of principles and techniques in various settings of my choice outside of the university and thereby afforded me the opportunity to practice instructional leadership in gifted education settings. The focus of my experience was on improving my own instructional practice, strengthening administrative work, elevating my outreach, staying informed, and being an advocate for future research in this field.
